Pacquiao, knocked out in 1st round

Few weeks before the 2007 elections, it was quite obvious that Gen. Santos 1st district Representative Darlene Antonino was crying out several issues between her and tough opponent boxing champ Manny Pacquiao. Just like any other boxing matches that “Pacman” had been through, this round is quite afar from them, the fight was not only about the game of fists, charm, but as well as to whom the people will choose to place in the congressional seat.

Early this morning (May 15, 2007) it was reported on television (GMA 7 Eleksyon 2007) that re-electionist Rep. Darlene Antonino – Custodio was leading nearly by 10,000 votes with less than a quarter of the total number of precints accounted, too early for Custodio to be “glorified” and too early for Pacquiao to be “:horrified”.

Through this revelation, I came to realize that people are much politically matured now as what they “used to be” before. Dragging experiences from the past elections and politicians taught them to be wiser. On the side of Pacquiao, a neophyte in this kind of match, may this give him a one good lesson: “that popularity is not always a basis for everything”. After the canvassing and proclamation of winners, maybe its better for him to take some rests, reflect (and so he may realize that next, he should not get easily “adored” by “trapos” who would only love to use and make him as a puppet in the government.

He’s a good person I know, and if he really cares a lot for his people, then he can do it possibly even as a private citizen.. See you soon on you future title matches.
For Rep. Darlene Antonino-Custodio, early congratulations.

Salvador "Doy" Laurel's biography

I’ve just finished reading the biography of the late Vice President Salvador “Doy” Laurel,. A life full of formidable tasks, romantic lovelife, infinite love for his country and firm disposition for dignity. It was quite impressive to know that it was his beloved wife Mrs. Celia Diaz-Laurel who wrote his great Odyssey knowing that it is thoroughly difficult to write such one.I’ve just known the late Vice President through his role played during the EDSA People Power 1, where he played the part as the strength behind of then graving Cory Aquino from his husband’s assassination…and I must admit that my idea about him confines to that exist solely from it

FORMIDABLE TASKS

Upon reading the story of his life from childhood, he impressed me a lot. Being a son of a President during the Japanese occupation period wasn’t that easy to bear. Death threats for his family, and even the frequent change of their address due to the constraint of the Japanese officials…whoah, that was really tough. His intelligence really wowed me too, I mean as a student, he never failed his parent’s expectation from him, being a consistent honor student from elementary till his postgraduate studies was really irresistible from a simple public school till he went to Ateneo, La Salle, UP, and Yale University in US.

ROMANTIC LOVELIFEDoy Laurel grew as a man of countenance, sensibility that would melt any girl’s heart….his first love turned also to be his soulmate, whoah…it was a very interesting love story…sorry but I think I don’t have to further elaborate it anymore…hehehehe

INFINITE LOVE FOR HIS COUNTRY

Legal Aid Lawyer Awardee of the World…Laurel family was known to be a family of legal professionals, His father (Pres. Jose P. Laurel) was a lawyer, and his brood of eight children pursued the same profession too. When Doy Laurel became a senator, he extremely defended for the law for the Poor people which was also known to us as the “Laurel’s Laws”. Clearly stating that the poor Filipinos must exercise more rights, and privileges since they are financially challenged believing that through this provision, they will be empowered.

FIRM DISPOSITION FOR DIGNITY

When he running for the senatorial candidacy, he was under the political party of the great dictator Pres. Ferdinand Marcos.Wherein he was known as the senator who stood up to protect the poor with the rights that they should posses. He moved the nation by making a sacrifice and giving way to Cory Aquino, wife of the assasinated Ninoy to run for the 1986 Presidential elections.

LATE YEARS OF LIFE

During his retirement age, Doy Laurel was still an active supporter of our government leaders, until he was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1996, which caught his life in 2004.

Retreat last September 15-17, 2006

Just came from our retreat in Caleruega Retreat House in Nasugbu, Batangas...
After 3 days and 2 nights of offering my time to God, I was able to make some reflections about my life for the past 4 years of being a college student.I've been through difficult shortcomings, temptations, rise, joys, and even falling in love...so many things happened...but this was just the only time I was able to think back about...
My 4 years in college was the most memorable and difficult part in my life...well...it really was...but I thank God that He was there all the time, He guided me, through thick and thin, ....
Just as what our retreat master told us, "Just always remember...God is always there at your side no matter what happens, He will never leave you alone..."
It was true...I believe that all through those years, He was there,He was there in so many ways, through the slightest gentle breeze,...God was there when I was about to bend down on my knees and about to give up,...He was there when I was about to cry, when I was happy, when I was challenged with shortcomings and many more...He was always there....

The Writer in Me

I consider my so called "writing career" as a big secret...since I wasnt known to anyone as writer. In UST, I was known as the little miss OCD, my former classmates in pe used to call me ate ponkan, for my family, Im just known to be a passionate singer(just to sing the do-re-mi). T my friends as a jolly and "pa-tweetums", weird thinker for my co-majors, and a sort of "ate" for my 5-year old nephew.Writing was inappreciable for me...or I guess, it was just my fault not to develop this prowess that I posses...

As I ponder, I came to realize that maybe this unknowing gift came from my great passion in reading. Reading was my favorite activity whenever times leads me to boredom. And as what Lord Byron once said, "Reading and Writing goes hand in hand"...and this is what I believe and holds on to when the question of how my writing life began.

When I was in grade school, I became the assistant editor in chief of our school paper. And with this position, I was assigned to write the editorial section for each issue that will come out.I even joined Young Men Christian Association's campus journalism contest but fate wasnt on my side.

When I graduated in grade school, I stopped writing for a while, but thinking and realizing those things that makes me happy wont stop me from doing it all over again. During my third year in High School, I tried my guts again to apply in our school paper organization and took their entrance test. The entrance test was not that easy for me. The title of the essay that we had to write was "The writer in Me", and as I grab the pen in my hand, I find it hard to start, since It's been quite a long time since I forsweared my pen in writing. A minute or two, ideas came crossing my mind and gave me the strength to start scribbling my pen, and from then...I reunited with my writing ...

Writing never ceases, just like an old friend that when you once lost, fate finds a way for you to find your way back to it. Writing has been my bestfriend (as I consider) because through it, I am able to express my thoughts, feelings, criticisms that I wasn't able to tell nor share to anyone. It is a great and reliable fortress whom I can run to and show the real Mia inside. And no matter what happens, I wont stop from writing.
